How to calculate it
Add your birth day and birth month to the current year, then reduce to a single digit. Example: born 12 March, current year 2026 → 1+2+3+2+0+2+6 = 16 → 1+6 = 7. A Personal Year 7. The number changes on your birthday each year.
A quick map of the nine-year cycle
- Year 1 — new ground. Plant the seed. Start.
- Year 2 — slower year of partnership and patience.
- Year 3 — expression, social momentum, creative play.
- Year 4 — structure, work, foundations.
- Year 5 — change, freedom, sometimes upheaval.
- Year 6 — home, responsibility, repair of relationships.
- Year 7 — inward, reflective, a year for depth not output.
- Year 8 — power, money, authority, harvest.
- Year 9 — completion, letting go, clearing ground for a new cycle.
Using your Personal Year well
The point of knowing your year isn't to be told what will happen. It's to notice when the season you're in disagrees with the plans you're forcing — and to give yourself permission to slow down, change direction, or push harder accordingly.
